"As a community of educators and parents, there's nothing more important to do right now than collectively teach boys and girls about consent."
And our kids think it’s normal. They think it’s just how things are.
How are we supposed to talk to our children – our teenagers – about consent, respect, alcohol and other drugs, staying safe, and all of the risks they face? Between us not knowing what to say, or when or how to say it, and our kids not willing to hear it, we’re in a tough spot. But we have to have the conversations. We must. So where do we start?
Dr Justin Coulson, one of Australia’s leading parenting experts and father to six daughters, has put together Answers, designed specifically for parents of high school students. In this seminar, you’ll hear:
What teenagers are getting up to in terms of alcohol, drugs, pornography, and sex
Why they think they know everything (and why it’s so hard to teach them anything)
Simple ways to have the conversations your teenager needs to have in a way that invites them to want to listen
The critical things every parent must do to reduce the risk that their child will be either a perpetrator or a victim of non-consensual sexual activity (assault)
Note – this is a live webinar, but a link will be available for 7 days after the event in case of timetable clashes so you can catch up and watch it later.
If you have any further questions or if you would prefer to be invoiced, rather than pay by credit card, please email us at [email protected]
This event is for parents of high school students, regardless of age or gender.
While we believe that sex education and discussing sex with our children is crucial in empowering them to make the right decisions and to stay safe, this seminar is not for students but for their parents. Its aim is to equip parents with the tools they need to have these conversations with their children, and in turn deepen the trust and connection between child and parent within the framework of their own personal values.
For $500+gst you'll receive whole-school live virtual access to the seminar on Consent from one of Australia's leading parent experts. You'll also have access to the recording for 1 week after the event. Marketing materials will be provided to help you get the word out in your school community. Parents will have the opportunity to pre-submit questions. We will give you access to a google document where you can monitor how many people from your school have registered for email reminders.
No. This seminar is only available to school organisations, who then have the licence to distribute access to the event to their school community.
We'll make the recording available to everyone who has registered for 7 days after the event. This should give everyone plenty of time to catch up if they can't make it to the live event.
The latest a school can register is Monday 24 May, 5pm. We recommend schools register as soon as they can. We will be providing you with marketing materials to help promote the event to your school community. You'll want to allow plenty of time to allow parents to find out about the event and register. However, should you run out of time to promote the seminar, we encourage your school to still sign up and provide the recording to parents. The recording will be available for 7 days after the event.
All you'll need to watch the seminar is internet connection and a browser. Once your school is registered, we'll send you a unique URL for your parents to register for email reminders, as well as the URL to your unique viewing page.
Yes! Once you've registered your school, we'll be in touch with a marketing pack for you to use to advertise the event to your school community.
We will provide you with a Google Sheet which will allow you to see how many people have registered for email reminders for the live session. We won't be able to give you specific information about who has accessed the live event on the night.
No. If you purchase a licence, your whole school community has access to the event. This includes staff members and parents.
Dr Justin's presentation will go for about 45 minutes. There will be time for approximately 20 minutes of questions at the end of the seminar.
This seminar is designed for parents and will be addressing mature themes. We suggest that parents use their own judgement as to whether or not they feel the content will be suitable for their own teenager. The content will not be suitable for younger children.
